WENDY WHO? While I call the Columbia Valley home today, I grew up in a family of 6 in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario. I studied Business Administration at Bishops University in the Eastern Townships in the province of Quebec, graduating in 1992. I then decided to migrate west for a bit of teaching and ski coaching; and, well, I am still here. Glenn Findlay (Finn), and I founded “Columbia Rafting Adventures” in 1994 and soon after, we also established a watersport gear importing company. Incidentally, Finn and I were married in the valley two years later. With Jake and Banjo (our two beloved black labs) by our side, we have lived in Panorama, Windermere and Fairmont Hot Springs, and we are proud to call the Columbia Valley home. WHAT KEEPS ME BUSY? Besides operating two businesses, I have kept quite active in my community. There is always some meeting, event or committee for which to volunteer! Like others that want to contribute, I have spent many hours gladly volunteering for different events and organizations. I am a founding member of the Fairmont Business Association, acting as President for two terms. and currently, I remain on the Board of Directors for the FBA, the Fairmont Community Association and the working committee for the Columbia Valley Transit. I enjoyed my work on the team that organized the annual Canada celebrations in Fairmont. As you see, the directorial position on RDEK is a natural step forward for me. I am ready to roll up my sleeves and work for the good of the Columbia Valley. |
