FACILITATION OF AREA FUNDING

People tend to think that bureaucracies can be oppressive and intimidating – so much red tape.

Information shouldn’t flow only one-way.  I consider the Directorship a resource for you.

As an example, if there is information that can help a resident, business or community group apply for funding, it is my responsibility to share that.  RDEK has Discretionary Grants In Aid (DGIA) funds divided into areas based on assessed property values in those areas.  Currently, Area F has the largest portion of these funds.  There is money available for registered non-profit organizations, should you qualify!   To date in 2008 more than $63,000 has been distributed and only $4,600 related to public Canada Day activities were dedicated to Area F.

As your Director I will facilitate the application process.

There are creative ideas out there – satellite visitor centers, marketing campaigns, website creation or re-design, economic development studies - RDEK can help you move your ideas into reality.
